Hantrue Goggle and A Bobbits

While coloring the other night, Piper told us she was going to color the picture of a boy she found in her coloring book. Just for kicks we started asking her questions about the boy and here's what we found out:

-What are you going to color?
-Dis boy. I color him orange.
-What's the boy's name?
-Hantrue
-Andrew?
-No. His name H-a-n-t-r-u-e.
-Oh, Hantrue.
-Yes, Hantrue. I color him orange.
-What's his last name?
-Goggle
-Where does Hantrue Goggle live?
-Samtra
-Does Hantrue Goggle have a dog?
-Yes, his name Samtra too.

And that was it. Back to coloring Hantrue Goggle and his dog Samtra in the land of Samtra!

Piper has started making up all kinds of new words lately. Whenever she can't remember the name for something or doesn't know what it's name is, she refers to it as "a bobbits".

9-Month Check-up

Boone recently (or a week or two ago..I think that's still recent isn't it?) had his 9-month check-up and all checked out great!


Here are his stats:


Height: 28 1/4 in (just below 50th percentile)

Weight: 18lbs 2oz (between 10th and 25th percentile)

Head circumference: 18 1/4 in (just below the 75th percentile)

More insights on the moon

I headed out of the house one morning last week with the kids and as soon as Piper stepped off the porch she yelled, "Mommy look, I see da moon!" Sure enough, we could still see the moon. She took a few more minutes to look at it then got in the car and we headed out to school.


It was a pretty quiet ride, Boone fell asleep and Piper was busy watching everything go by out the window. All of the sudden she said, "Mommy look, dat moon is chasing our car!" Sure enough, we had just come through a big patch of trees and there was the moon again.


I asked her if she thought this was the same moon we saw outside our house, to which she replied, "No Mommy, dhere is two moons, one for our house and dis one. Dis one, he commin wid us, cause he come wid our car."


So there you have it.

9 Month Pictures

I love this one of Pip and Boone. The best part is Piper picked out her own outfit and was so proud. She has on her "froggie fip-flops", "blue pocket pants" and her "shurt I made at school, I make myself with paint".

Gerald Andrew "Gerry" Hitch, Sr., 53, of Indian Head, died August 11, 2009, in Baltimore.

Mr. Hitch was owner of Gerry's Pizza and Subs in Indian Head. His hobbies were bass fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the Redskins, Orioles and NASCAR on TV. He was a Jeff Gordon fan. He was passionate about his association with the graft versus host disease support group.

Born April 5, 1956, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late William Elton Hitch, Sr. and Mary Margaret Hitch.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Wanda Speake Hitch; siblings, Sharon Conley, Rae Ann Coburn and Billy Hitch; daughter, Heather Hitch Bryan; son, Gerald Andrew "Ger" Hitch II; daughter-in-law, Angela Hitch; son-in-law, Davis Bryan; and grandchildren, Piper Hitch, Boone Hitch and Jackson Bryan.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Aug 14 at Williams Funeral Home, Indian Head. Mass will be celebrated at noon Aug 15 at St Mary, Star of the Sea. Burial will take place at St Charles Cemetary, Glymont.

Pallbearers will be Joe Martin, Tim Boyd, Wendell Lee, Ray Lee, Hunter Lee and Richard Bladen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Paint the Town Red!

Somebody has a new pair of shiny red shoes (Thanks Margaret) that she absolutely loves and can be seen wearing them quite often! I hadn't even realized how often she wears them until I was looking through some recent photos and noticed a little "red" reoccurring theme.
