Feel Better Soon DanDaddy, We Love You!

DanDaddy has been in the hospital since the Friday before Easter. On Monday of this week he had a procedure done to his lungs which will hopefully make him able to breathe much better and make him one step closer to coming home soon. Please keep he and Bube in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks to everyone who's been saying prayers already, keep praying, I think it's working!

Fun and then Not So Fun

It's great to get your picture taken with your little brother and cousin. Life's good, you, as the big sister/big cousin, get to sit in the middle, while you're flanked on either side with a little fella. Yes, life is good.

Then your little brother, who, by the way, can't seem to control his arms and what he's grabbing onto, just can't quit touching your shoulder and grabbing the sleeve of your dress. No matter what you do, he just won't stop. Somehow, the more frustrated you get, the more he smiles, which makes matters all the more frustrating.

Boone-Buddy Got "Captized"!!

This past Sunday, Boone was baptized. But before his big debut at our church, his big sister was there to give him a big pep talk. Ger and I were sitting in the pew waiting for the mass to begin. Boone was in his carrier right at our feet and Piper was sitting between us. She got down and sat on the kneeler right next to him and said, "Boone-Buddy you get captized today, like I got captized too! No be scared, we here to totect you." When it was time for Boone, us and the godparents to get up, Piper filed out like she knew what to do and stood up there with us the whole time. Boone did great and the water over his head made him smile. So congrats little buddy, you're officially captized now!

Thanks to the best godparents around, Aunt Heather and Uncle Fran, and Cousin Jackson too for making the trip. Uncle Fran flew in straight from Mexico City. Special thanks for not bringing the swine flu with you!
Thanks to Grammi and Fafa for being there to help us celebrate, we sure had fun!
Thanks to the Sayers family for staying home!! Ha, ha. When Cousin Osten called Saturday morning to tell us he threw up and he and his sister, Marci, both had "di-a-reka", we told them that though we would miss them dearly, we were glad the di-a-reka germs weren't coming to South Carolina.
Bube and DanDaddy, we missed you so much. Thanks for the wonderful blanket for Boone. Get better really soon DanDaddy.

Rights of Passage

As Piper gets older, there are starting to be these moments that she does something for the first time and it's something that Ger and I both have vivid childhood memories of doing. When this happens, we often pause, reminisce a little and then comment about how we both can't believe we have a child old enough to be doing whatever it may be. So here's a right of passage that just left Ger and I a bit nostalgic over the weekend.

We were out running some errands and ended up at the grocery store. Piper was antsy and didn't want to stay in the front seat of the cart. So, she ended up riding on the front of the cart standing on the lower shelf and holding on to the front. She had the cutest grin on her face the whole time. Needless to say, it took forever to get the few items we needed, as we were pushing the cart at a snail's pace to be sure she didn't fall off...she just looked so little up there.

The Last of the Easter Fun for this Year

We attempted to take pictures of us with the kids after church, but it's much easier said than done these days to get everyone looking in the right direction. So here's our best attempts.

We ended our Easter Sunday with an afternoon egg hunt outside. Piper had a party and egg hunt at school on Thursday, so she was already a seasoned veteran by the time Sunday rolled around. She took off when she spotted the eggs on the ground.

Still More Easter!

Here's a couple shots I got right before we left for church. Those two were just workin' it for the camera!

Here's a couple of early Easter morning shots. Boone got a little purple stuffed Easter bunny from his basket from their school parties. It's been a huge hit around our house. Boone likes to chew on the ears and get them all soggy and Piper likes to snuggle with it and push it around in her stroller.
Here's a shot of the chocolate and candy starting to kick in! Note: this picture was taken around 6am Easter morning. The Hitch household was in full swing by then.

More Easter Fun

Happy Easter!

We had quite an eventful Easter weekend this year. Ger and I were both able to take Friday off, and it was wonderful to have the extra family day together (the weekends are just too short these days).

So, we kicked off the weekend with a visit to the Easter Bunny. Before you scroll down and see this picture, a little background. We waited until really late this year to start hunting for somewhere to have a picture with the Easter bunny. But in the past, all the area malls always have the Easter Bunny, so I thought "no worries". Well to my surprise the two places we've been in the past for pictures (Santa or Easter Bunny) were both not having it this year. What??!! And the only other place I could find, another mall, is over an hour from our house, which seemed a bit far. So I ended up calling the trusty ole local Wal-Mart and what do you know they were having pictures on Saturday and Sunday. At the time I thought it was a bit odd they weren't going to be in their portrait studio, but somehow shrugged that off...more on that later.

So we arrive at Wal-Mart at the appointed time, and find out the Easter Bunny will be appearing in the middle of the front of the store, oh, and he's running late. So we wait. We'd been telling Piper she was going to have her picture made with the Easter bunny and she was very excited. When he finally showed up, her excitement continued, but the closer we got to him the stronger her grip got on Ger's hand. She finally stopped completely and said, "I no sit in Easer bunny lap". And no matter how much coaxing and talking to her we did, we couldn't get her to change her mind. Oh, and somewhere inbetween, a woman from the Optical shop and a "regular shopper" also both took their turns at trying to convince her. No go with either of them as well. Therefore, the picture this year is her hanging on to me for dear life on one side of the Easter Bunny, while Ger and Boone join the ranks on the other side.

A couple of side notes:

Check out the nice shot of the rafters of the building at the top of the picture...nice!

Oh, and by the way, this picture has been brought to you by 7Up, Snapple, Pepperidge Farm, Goldfish, Airwick and Lysol. Nothing like a little gratiutous advertising on the bottom of your Wal-Mart Easter Bunny picture.

Like I said, classic!

Just hanging out.

Early Saturday morning fun.

Here's a short video from this morning of Pip & Boone enjoying some snuggling on the floor time together. It's not action-packed, just plain sweet.

More Weekend Updates

I had a few posts I'd hoped to get up during the week, and alas we've passed through another weekend and here it is Monday again. Well, I guess there's always this week.

Piper had a fun weekend. On Saturday, she went to McRea's 1st birthday party and had such fun. She especially enjoyed playing with Sallie and Whitney's homemade strawberry cupcakes. I asked her what was the most fun part of the party and she told me, "I play laugh and scream with Sallie".

Sunday, she went to a birthday party for one of her friends from school, Meg, at Bounce Around. She'd never been to this place before, but she walked right in the door, kicked off her shoes, and took off running! It took her a little bit to build up the courage to go down the big inflatable slide, but once she found her courage and did it once, she found it hard to stop!

This morning when she woke up, she told us she wanted to go to a party and eat cake. I think she was hoping for three days in a row...can't blame her. All this talk about birthday party's has led her to start asking quite frequently, "My happy birthday coming up?"
